MSO the industry leading tool tailor-made for users responsible for mine designs and estimating of reserves in underground mines.


With this tool you can obtain a vast number of scenarios based on different mining technical and economic parameters to come up with the optimal stope designs and reserve estimates.

Training will be provided to a maximum of 6 end-users and a minimum of 3 end-users per training course. 

DATAMINE reserves the right to postpone a course to a later date should the minimum of 3 delegates not be met.

This 2-day introductory course provides delegates with a basic understanding of MSO principles in stope shape optimisation.

Daily timetable:

This course will run in 3 x 2 hour slots during the each day.

8:00am -10:00am; 10:30am - 12:30pm and 1:30pm - 3:30pm 

Course Outline:

  • Fundamentals of MSO – defining technical and economic parameters for underground stopes
  • Defining the orebody’s strike and dip conventions in MSO
  • Configuration/Run and Evaluation of the Base Case in MSO
  • Analysis and Evaluation of dilution
  • Analysis of multiple scenarios with MSO/Variation of operational and economic parameters

Training courses are open to all companies. Training is based on DATAMINE’s standard training datasets.

Training will be provided to a maximum of 6 end-users and a minimum of 3 end-users per training course.

THEMBANI CHIRINDA

Mining Engineer - Datamine Africa

Thembani Chirinda is a Consultant Mining Engineer at Datamine, specialising in underground mine planning. He graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg in April 2015 with a BSc. Eng in Mining.

Thembani previously worked at one of the largest diamond mining companies by production in South Africa, where he was exposed to Block Caving and Sub-Level Caving mining methods. He joined Datamine in 2018, where he went on to work on numerous training and onsite implementation projects with various mining methods including conventional mining, Sub-Level-Open Stoping, SLC, Block Caving, and room and pillar in the following commodities platinum, gold, zinc, diamond, copper, and chrome. Thembani has trained and supported clients in the following Datamine software packages: Studio 5D Planner, Studio UG, MSO, EPS and Aegis.
